How It Works

Identify target accounts, score their fit, and find decision-makers from an ideal-customer description.

Why Exa

Prospecting requires more than company names. The application needs a fit rationale, current operating signals, and people in the relevant roles. Exa Deep Search returns those fields from company and people searches using schemas the ranking and CRM views can consume.

The Pipeline

Overview

The demo is a live four-stage research pipeline. Every Exa request uses type deep and numResults 10; company stages use category company, and the contact stage uses category people.

  1. Identify the source company and its ideal customer.
  2. Discover a sample of the total addressable market from four search angles.
  3. Enrich and score the selected prospect companies.
  4. Find current decision-makers at the highest-fit accounts.

Steps

1

Identify the source company

A company-domain query runs with category company, the company-profile schema, a system prompt, and additionalQueries. The structured profile becomes the anchor for the ICP and later enrichment prompts.

2

Explore the total addressable market

The app runs four company-search angles per round with category company, a TAM schema, and angle-specific system prompts. It can run up to three rounds, deduplicating and accumulating candidate companies between rounds.

3

Enrich selected accounts

Each selected company gets a structured Deep Search with category company, an enrichment schema and system prompt derived from the source profile, and additional company-specific queries.

4

Find relevant people

The contact stage switches to category people while keeping type deep and numResults 10. A people schema and role-verification prompt return current contacts for each target account.

Endnote

The live demo stops after identifying the company, exploring its market, enriching selected accounts, and finding relevant people. Monitoring appears only as a suggested next step for production follow-up.
